These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of StartTheDate, operated from Ontario, Canada ("StartTheDate", "we", "us", or "our") at startthedate.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Service. By using StartTheDate you confirm that you meet these requirements.
StartTheDate uses AI to generate suggested messages, openers, replies, and coaching based on the information you provide. The Service is an assistive tool. Suggestions are informational and assistive only. They are not professional, legal, psychological, or relationship advice, and they are generated automatically by an AI model that can be wrong, inappropriate, or out of context.
You are solely responsible for the messages you actually send and for how you use any suggestion StartTheDate provides. You should review and edit suggestions before using them. You decide what to send, to whom, and how to behave toward others. StartTheDate is not a party to your conversations or relationships and is not responsible for anything that happens as a result of messages you choose to send.
We do not promise or guarantee any particular result — including matches, replies, dates, relationships, or any other dating outcome. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Some features require a paid plan or access pass. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. Prices and plan features are shown at checkout and may change over time. Paid subscriptions renew automatically for the stated billing period unless you cancel before the renewal date. You authorize us, through Stripe, to charge the applicable fees to your payment method.
You can cancel a subscription at any time; cancellation stops future renewals, and access continues until the end of the current paid period. Except where required by law, ongoing subscription fees already charged are non-refundable. For one-time purchases (such as an ebook), refund eligibility is described at the point of sale. The Service, including its software, design, and content we provide, belongs to StartTheDate. You keep ownership of the content you submit. You grant us a limited licence to process your content as needed to operate and improve the Service, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Our handling of your personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StartTheDate and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the Service, your reliance on any suggestion, or your interactions with other people. To the extent we are found liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree to the jurisdiction of the courts located in Ontario, Canada, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights in your place of residence.
